BEER DUTY AMENDMENT.
(Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 12. 'l'lie Beer Duty Act Amendment Bill gives a definition of hop beer, which must not contain more than 3 per cent of proof spirit. There is to be a penalty not excelling £lO for manufacturing for sale hop beer without a license, the license to cost £l. The Minister for Custom’s powers in regard to beer depots established on the boundaries of no-licenso districts are amended. Clause S provides that no beer shall be removed from a brewery in pursuance of a permit granted under section 32 of the principal Act except to a warehouse 6r~otlier place authorised by the Minister of Customs to bo used for the storage of beer. Tho Minister may in his discretion grant, refuse, or withdraw his authority for such use.
