Neither of the batsmen were at homo with B-arne-s’ and Blythe s deliveries. Claxton played sterling cricket throughout. Hie innings closed for 343. Jones and Fane were the first to irenresent England, Roy and Hill bowling. For a time the batsmen took no liberties. Jones, however, soon got to work, cutting and driving in excellent style.
