MONDAY’S HQLIDAY. A UNION’S ATTITUDE. Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 7. At the Arbitration Court yesterday Mr. Ferguson, secretary of the Harbor Board, asked the Court to rule whether the Board might observo the King’s Birthday on Monday, in lieu of Saturday. Mr. D. McLaren, of the Wharf Laborers’ Union,, and Mr. W. T. Young, of tlio Seamen’s Union, said the men intended to abide by the award, and observo the holiday on Saturday. Mr. Justice Sims suggested that the Unions should agree to treat Monday as the holiday. If tho Unions could not! see their way to fall in with this suggestion, and .subsequently came before the Court citing for a breach of the award on (account of tho workers not being paid at holiday irates for Saturday’s work, the Court might consider such application under section 86 of the Act, which allowed for cases regarded as trivial to be dismissed with costs against the parties bringing the action.
