CHURCH MATTERS.
The Anglican Church people throughout Now Zealand -a l'e, much interested just now in two movements : the Lambeth Conference and Congress and the projected mission at tho Pan Anglican Congress to be held in London -from June 15tli to June 23rd, 1908. Representatives of Anglican Missions in all parts of theworld will meet in London to discuss various questions -regarding work in the mission field. A great Thanksgiving service as to be held in iSt Paul’s Cathedral oil the last driv of t-lie -Congress, and each Bishop will present at tho altar of St Paul’s ail offering from his Diocese, towards some missionary objec-t. The General Synod of New Zealand has decided that the offerings from New Zealand shall be. given to women’s work in the mission field, and every churchman 'and eliurchwo•mnn in the Dominion is invited an-1 requested to take ltis or her share in this 'great offering by contributing at least Is towards it. Tlie treasurers of ithc fund are kept busy lust now gathering in the shillings. The local clergy are inviting all chuiehpeople to join in th c movement. The other subject of special interest is the great mission tin it is to he held throughout New Zealand and possibly also Australia, in 1909. This is to be made a subject of special praver during Advent. The examination of Sunday Schools of the Diocese of AA’aiapu will begin on November 23rd, when papers will he set for juniors (under 13) _ and seniors (over 13) in flic Old Testament and the Church Catechism; and on November -°-f)tli when -papers will be set oil New Testament subjects.
The standing committee will give prizes (“B':lirnis Brizes’’) to oil who obtain over 60 nor eon,*- of tlm possible marks and cord" to -B who obtain over 40 oer cent.’ There wifi •nroba'blv be n largo nnnvb'”- nf candidates from the districts of AYaerengn-a-liilrn, Patutabi, and To ICaraka. •A great deal of enthusiasm is being shown : n the Te Tvarahr d'striet rowding the-budding of the new church ro-m and the appointment of a resident stinendm rv reader. Mr AY. H. Roberts. who lias just be-M annointed to ibis-position, will work under the direction of the Tiear of flip three new districts. Mr Roberts lias lately arrived from the Diocese of Salisbury in Kmrlaml hnd lias bail a verv considerable experience in all branches of Church work. The building of the .church will be taken in luijid at once.
THE HOLIDAY. TOST AND TELEGRAPH ARRANGEMENTS. For the King’s Birthday, Monday will bo observed by tho Post and Telegraph offices as a holiday.
