It : creates ti. cruel lust for blood-money, i which it gathers in under the inso--1 lent pretence of morality. The Gothenburg system was to promote jnojirality, but the opposite is the result." Disorder, confusion, depravity, and lawlessness are engendered under the shelter of that system. Where the local aclmhiistrtition is financially linked with the liquor traffic there grows as a consequence a dangerous disposition to disregard the Jaws of the land. _Tlie great though questionable profits allocated under this system hinder the reforms which the people deem necessary for their own social progress. The Temperance people are solidifying in respect of these matters, and a revolution is taking place in public opinion. ‘Many now realise that it is shameful beyond expression to uphold a system which .sucks the blood o-f the working classes for the sake of the monetary profits. ‘.‘THE GOTHENBURG SYSTEM IS A SELF-RIGHTEOUS. SELFLOVING SYSTEM. WHICH STAINS AND SPOILS AUTHORITIES AS WELL 'AS INDIVIDUALS. It has a wonderful power of •silencing the voice of conscience, and of casting a rosy glvmor over its cynical egotism. It loudly proclaims that it is the interests of morality, hut its honor and morality are of such a kind as disregard both justice and humanity.
