THE CONSTANCE CRAIG.
Press Association. "WHANGABEL, Oct, 30. Several weeks ago Mason McLeod, an old settler at Taiharuru, on the East Coast, near Wliangarei, found a largo fillip’s boat with, the name “Constance Craig” plainly showing on the side, lying at high-water mark in a small cave. He hauled the boat up, hut for some reason made no mention of tho matter. Only yesterday the fact became known, through a stock agent who visited the. place noticing tho boat. Instructions have been received by the Collector of Customs, Mr. AV. J Hawley, to have a Magisterial inquiry held into the circumstances surrounding tho supposed loss of the barquo Constance Craig,which lias been missing for several months. Tho inquiry will bo conducted by Mr. IV. A. Barton, S.M., with Captains Ware and Must, of Gisborne, as assessors, and will be hold at the Magistrate’s Courthouse on. Saturday next, iat 11 a.m. The inquiry will only he of a brief and formal nature.
