THE AUCKLAND SUICIDE.

Press Association. AUCKLAND, Oct, 25. An inquest was held this afternoon touching the death of Norman ICeir, aged 30 years, who committed suicide by shooting himself in the Domain yesterday. AVilliam AVoofe Benjamin, accountant in the employ of the firm of N. Keir and Co., a resident of the house in which deceased lived, ■stated that he had known Keir for about six months, and from that date deceased had been drinking heavily. Since October 10th matters between deceased’s partner, Povnter, and deceased had been considerably strained. His conduct at tlie business had been very irregular, and especially during tlie past- two months. AVitlics did not consider liis actions to be those of a sane man. The jury returned a verdict of suicide while mentally deranged.
