PERSONAL.
Air. Andrew Black, the eminent baritone, is a through passenger by ■the Waikare this morning. Mr. Frank Do Lautour, son of Air. C. A. Do Lautour, is to leave oil November 7th for England, to pursue Inis studies in electrical engineering. Captain Martin is at present acting as harbormaster ill place of Captain Cumining, who is suffering from influenza. A large' number of members of the legal profession gathered in the Supreme' Count Library yesterday morning to make a presentation o'f a silver tea and coffee service to Air. W. Johnston, Assistant Land Registrar, who is to he married shortly. Air. .1. AY. Nolan occupied the chair, and ill making tile presentation spoke of Air. Johnston’s excellent work, and remarked on liis zeal and earnestness in tho conduct of his duties in spite of the fact that the office was under-staffed. Mr. Nolan was supported by Alessrs. AY. Sie-v.w right, AV. L. Rees, and lie Lautour, and Air. Johnston responded in suitable terms. Air. Emerson, injured in the jumping competition at tlio Show, regained consciousness yesterday morning, and has since been making very good progress, and it is expected that lie will ho about in a few days.
