In tho Senate, Senator Walker read a letter from the manager of the New Zealand rifle team, Sydnoy, complaining that tho Now Zealanders were treated differently to tho British in tho matter of railway passes and tent charges. A Government inquiry was promised.

LONDON, Oct. 23. The football match, New Zealanders versus YYakefigld, Trinity, ended in a draw, each scoring a penalty goal and try. Wakefield scored in the first half, the colonials equalising in the second spell.

The management committee* of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-niglit decided to inform affiliated Unions that it is not illegal to pay referees for loss of time, but referees receiving payment will thereafter be debarred from playing football. The committee refused a request by a player, disqualified for life by tho Taranaki Union, that the matter should be reconsidered.

STRATFORD, Oct. 24. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Athletic Caledonian Association last night agreed on days for alt fixtures submitted for the coming season. A letter was received from the New Zealand Athletic Association, stating that the Eltham Axemen’s Association would be asked to organise as a colonial body, in which case it will be Tecognised by the Union; f ailing definite action in that direction the Union will he compelled to assume control of sawing and chopping events in the interests of the affiliated societies. The meeting decided that delegates to the annual meeting of the Union bo instructed to oppose any .interference with the Eltham Association.

WANGANUI, Oct. 24. A special meeting of the Wanganui Jockey Club Metropolitan Committee was held last night, and cancelled the jockey’s license held" b-v the well-known horseman Oli-as. Jenkins. This decision was arrived at after reviewing the Mar-ton Jockey Club’s stewards’ inquiry into a charge preferred against Jenkins of using abusive language to the judge at the conclusion of the Flying Handicap. -on .September oth. Jenkins' was also fined £lO for jostling Linkless while riding St. Claimer in the Flying Handicap at the Rnngitikei meeting on September 18th. The effect of the cancellation of Jenkins’ license-is that he will he unable to ride in any races during the current racing season.
