FIRES.
AUCKLAND, Oct, 22. A building in Parnell owned by T. Vivian and used by F. Williams as a fisli-curing factory, was gutted by fire this morning. The fittings and a large quantity of fish were destroyed. The insurance on the building was £250 in tlio London and Lancashire. ’Williams was uninsured. DUNEDIN, Oct. 22.
A house and contents, the property of Mr. J. Wilson, farmer, of Lander, was destroyed by fire last night. The house was insured for £4OO and the furniture for £IOO in the Victoria office. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. Private advice reports that Paltridge and Son’s tannery, Mount Barker, South Australia, was burnt on Saturday. It was insured for £ll,000 in tlio Standard and New Zealand offices, most of it being reinsured.
