Fine weather was experienced for the concluding day of the Wellington meeting. The attendance was large, and the course in good order. The double combination, Pearce and Hutt Park Handicaps (Mystification and All Red) paid £44 18s Od. The totalisator turnover for the day was £20,098, making a total of £34,813 for the meeting, as against £27,500 last year. Details:— Petone Hack Hurdles, of 100 sovs, li miles.—Royal Blue, 10.10, 1; Le Beau, 11.7, 2; Black Squall, 9.5, 3. Also started: Matakokiri, St. Amelia, The Voucher, Pardon. CAULFIELD MEETING. POSEIDON WINS THE CUP. United Press Association—Cop/right MELBOURNE, Oct. 20. There was perfect weather for the Caulfield meeting, and a large attendance was recorded. Results:— Hurdles.—Sea Swell 1, Red Fly 2, Lava. Five started. Betting: 10 to 9on Sea Swell. Won by a length. Time, 4min GJsee. Gwvn Nursery Handicap.—Sequent I, Black Range 2, Bawbee 3. Twelve others ran. Betting: 4to 1 Sequent. Won by three lengths. Time, oGJsec. Caulfield Cup.—Poseidon 1, Apologue 2, Welcome Trist 3. All the final acceptors but Invergordon and Pospolit'e started. Betting: 5 to 2 against Poseidon, 3 to 1 Apologue. lolaire, Welcome Trist, Ebullition, and Poseidon were ill the leading division as the field passed the railway side. On entering the straight Welcome Trist took charge, followed by lolaire, Poseidon, Apologue, and True Scot. Inside the distance Poseidon drew away, and won a good race by a length and a half. Time, lmin 35}«ec. Wyuna Steeplechase.—Alcino 1, Camelot 2, Boisbalo 3. Won by a head. Time, 4min 40Jsec. Windsor Handicap.—Pretty Polly 1. Picturesque 2, Lady .Rylstone 3. Three others ran. Betting: 9 to 4 against Picturesque, 12 to 1 Pretty Polly. A good finish. Won by a head. Time, lmin lGscc. Moora Handicap.—Carl Dour 1, Earl Lygon 2, Bon Grafton 3. Twelve others ran. Betting: 4 to 1 against Perfection, 7 to 1 Carl Dour. Won by a neck. Time, lmin 43*lseo. ■ Springfield fell in the Steeplechase, and Sutherland, tho rider, sustained a fractured thigh.
