Tlu> House passed clause 06 as amended by Mr. McNub. Machinery clauses up to clause 75 were passed unamended, concluding the original Bill. The Minister then introduced 17 new clauses. A sub-clause was passed as follow^; —“For the purposes of this Act* land held under occupation with the right of purchase shall not ho doomed to bo part of this Act, notwithstanding that the right of purchase has not boon exercised. J A clause was passed making it unlawful for any person to acquire any interest in land if such land, jointly or in common, exceeds a total of 5000 acres (calculated as in clause 55). Preference at the ballot is made to married persons, for certain areas which the Boards may set apart, a similar provision being made for landless applicants who havo twice within two years unsuccessfully balloted. Clause 18a was passed, and a new clause dealing with elections of Boards (provision being made for one member being elected l>y Crown tenants) is under discussion.
