ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
Press Association. GRETMOUTH, Oct. 13.. A distressing fatality occurred in the Grev River, near Blackball, last evening, when Constable Lyons and Air Joseph Skinner, draper,of Blackball, were drowned. It appears that two men who were camped together went fishing in a canoe, winch capsized. Constable Lyons rescued John Smith, and then went to the assistance of Skinner, who, it is thought, caught Lyons and rendered him useless and both were drowned. Tlio sad drowning accident which occurred at Blackball cast quite a "loom over the town and district today, the deceased being well known and highly respected. This afternoon the body of Skinner was recovered about a quarter of a mile from tlie scene of the accident. Dragging operations will . again he resumed at daylight. Skinner was a draper, and leaves a wife and five young children. Constable Lyons leaves two daughters, one married and the other aged 12 years.
