A match between To Ran and Tarnhern teams .takes place at Tnruhcru on Saturday afternoon next, commencing at 2 o’clock. A brake leaves the firebell at 1.30 p.m. sharp to convey the town players to Tarulieru. Following are the teams: —Tarulieru: Lasker. Hodge, Young, Murphy, Kenway, Charles, Roderick, Loomb, Matliieson, Clark, and Dr. Collins ; emergencies, Smith, Sharpe, Kinnimont, and AYilkins. To Rau team: Bnrnby, Cary, Carroll, Ellison, H. Gibson, Kaipara, Orpwood, Olsen, Pine, Pollock, Schofield, Sim, Rice, and Roderick.
The team to represent To Rau in their match with Common, Shelton and Co., this afternoon will he .selected from the folliwing: Dr. Collins, J. H. AVack, AY. H. AVaek, Melville. O. R. Olsen, J. Pino, J. Monk, AV. Ellison, Rice, Schofield, Knowsley, Cato, Tu Carroll, Hooper, and O’Connor. Players are requested to be on the ground at 2.15 sharp. An eleven will he picked from the following players to represent AVanderers against United on Saturday next, AYandorers to ho on tho ground (Domain) not later than half-past 2: Wilson (2), Babbs, McConnell, ITarker, Glennie, Maude, Torkington, Barry, McC’oll, AYintle, Adamson, Anderson, Laurenson, O’Halloran.

The Caulfield course was ill a fine condition after a steady rain yesterday, and there was a large attendance. Results:—
Emo Hurdles.—Red Fly, 10.7, 1; Lyric, 9.7, 2; Merrion, 11.1, 3. Seven others ran. Betting: 6 to 1 against the winner. Time, 3min 51!see.
Mona Xursery Handicap.—Sequent 7.9, 1 ; Mother Goose, 7.8, 2; Bangno, 7.0, 3. Fifteen others started. Betting: 7 to 2 against Mother Goose, 7 to 1 Sequent. The winner led all the way and won by a length and a quartel*. Time, 501 sec. Eclipse Stakes.—Poseidon 1, May King 2, Lady Diffidence 3. Other starters: Proeeedor, lolaire, Dyed Garments, Mazariu, Lady Rylstone, Saraband. AVhen .tho field was leaving the straight Mazariu was in charge with Proeeedor and Lady Diffidence in attendance. Along the railway side Poseidon and Lady Diffidence were in tlio van, and came into the straight in that order, with lo’airo next. Poseidon made no race of it, and won by two lengths from Alay King, who came with a late run gaining second place. Mazarin was fourth. Time, 2min 23?scc. _ Betting: even money Poseidon, 5 to 1 against lolaire. Hunters’ Chip.—Grandmaster, 11.2, 1; Killarney, 10.9, 2; Roscommon Boy, 11.11, 3. Five others ram AVon easily. Time, 7min 331 sec. Betting: 7 to 1 against the winner. Coongy Handicap.—Apologue, 9.5, 1; Thackeray, 7.3, 2; Kyeadgeril, 7.5, 3. Other starters: Yabba Gabba, Talkeroo, Felicita, Dynamite, Rhubarb, Rangatira, Invergordon, Charmant, Moana, Jack Smith, Fidelis. Betting: 4 to 1 against Apologue, 5 to 1 Yabba Gabba.’ At the mile post the latter led from Invergordon, who suddenly broke down. Thackeray then went to the front and led to the homo turn, where some bumping took place, with the result that Tulkeroo and Jack Smith fell. Thackeray led well into the straight, hut Apologuo came on the outside with a fast run, and catching the leader before tho post was reached won by a short neck. Time, 2min 24 l-ssec. Moonga, Handicap.—Picturesque, 3.11, 1; Honeymoon, 7.7, 2; Off Chance, 7.3. Ten-others ran. Betting : 2 to 1 against Picturesque. AVoTi by three lengths. Time, J.min 9-1 sec.
CAULFIELD CUP BETTING
(Received 11.56 p m.. Oct. 16.) MELBOURNE. Oct. 16. Subterranean burst a blood vessel in tho head while training at Mentone. The trainer says the horse will -tart, in the Cup, but his chance of victory is not so bright as before tlis accident.
The market Is uneven owing to a certain couple of supposed starters and others reported amiss. Apologue was supported for a fair amount at 7 to 1 against, and then shortened. Tho closing prices were: 3 to 1 against Poseidon, 6 to 1 Apologue, 8 to 1 Ebullition and Welcome. Trist,. 10 to 1 Bendigo, 12 to 1 Ellis, lolaire, and Subterranean.
