Wheat: Tho markets aro very strong, owing to the continuance of unfavorable reports from India, Australia, and Canada. There is a general prospect of supplies being insufficient. Two Australian cargoes sold at 43s and 43s 3d respectively. Holders aro asking 44s for old Australian for shipment, but little is offering. There are many sales of Californian blue stem at 41s 6d to 41s 9d. Australian spot is in >good demand at 42s Od to 43s 3d. New Zealand is nominally 40s to 41s for short-berried, 41s to 42s for long-berried. Flour, is brisk. Australian in London so-ld at 28s to 28s Gel; in Glasgow, at 30s.

Press Association. WELLINGTON. Oct. 14. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated London the 12th, states: The mutton market is weak. There is, however, speculative buying, induced by lower prices. River Plate mutton is in large supply, 'and is being strongly pushed for sale at 3d, Canterbury mutton 3:ld, Nor.th Island 3Jd. The lamb market is firm. The weather continues favorable for sales. The stocks on hand are light, and firmly held in few hands' Canterbury brands 5Jd, other than Canterbury bid. The beef market is weak, the supply exceeding the demand. Hindquarters 3§d. forequarters 2sd. The butter market is veryfirin. There is a general and active demand, and in anticipation of small supplies coming forward, butter is rising. Choicest New Zealand is at 114 s; Australian, salt 114 s, unsalted 116 s; Danish, 119 s; Siberian, 104 s. The cheese market is very firm. Prices are advancing. The demand is active. Retailers have combined to advance at once the price to 7jd. Prospects for next season are encouraging. Canadian cheese is at 64s and"63s for colored and white makes respectively. The hemp market is quiet. Small business is being done. Reports from Manila indicate heavy shipments of hemp aro expected. Good fair grado on spot is at £3O 10s, fair grade £2B 10s, fair current Manila £32 10s. The cocksfoot seed market is very firm and active, owing to advices of small shipments. ’There are only light stocks of -seed on hand. Bright, clean 171 b parcels are at 73s iper omt.
