CRICKET.

A meeting of tho Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held in the British Empire Hotel last evening. Mr. W. F. Ccderwall occupied the chair. Dr. Collins moved that in tho absence of rules, the ruling of the President be taken as filial in all matters of the Association.—Mr. Cary seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously. A letter was received from Mr. W. Lissant Clayton, and the secretary was instructed to write thanking him for his donation of a bat. A vote of thanks was accorded Dr. Scott for tho donation which he forwarded. Tho President stated that Mr Dewing had intimated to him his intention of donating £2 2s to the Association, and should occasion arise lie would make a further donation.—A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Dewing. It was decided on tho motion of Mr Hallamore that the request of the Waingnko Club for a match on tho 26th inst be acceded to. It was decided that a colts’ team be selected to meet them, and Messrs Hallamore, Gibson, Cary, Charles, and Dr. Collins were appointed a committee to arrange the match. Some discussion took place on tho date for opening the season.—Mr. IV. Gibson proposed that tho first, two matches be played on the first Saturday in November.—Mr. Maude proposed an amendment that the date be October 19th.—The voting on this proposition was equal, and tho chairman gave bis easting vote in favor of the amendment.—After tlie carrying of the amendment Mr. Hallamore pointed out that on October 26th there would be only one ground available ill consequence of tlie match colts v. Waingako. He proposed that the season be started with only one match.—The motion was ruled out of order. —Mr. Hallamore persisted that lie had a right to have his motion voted on, and was supported in this view by Dr. Collins.—Tho chairman declined to put the motion, and left the chair by way of protest.—The subject was then dropped. The following fixtures wore drawn : United v. Wanderers, and To Rau v. Taruhoru, to bo played on 19th October. At tlio conclusion of business tho secrotary tendered his resignation, and tho meeting decided to refer it back to him for reconsideration. Discussion arose after the mooting closed ns to where tho matches wero to bo played, mombers agreeing that it was understood tlio Taruhoru club would play on their own ground.
