EDUCATION BOARD.
Special to Times. NAPIER, Oct. 14. At the monthly meeting of the Education Board to-day, the resignation of Miss Stephenson, pupil teacher at Patutahi, and Miss Greene, assistant at Te Karaka, were- received.
On the recommendation of the building committee it was decided to obtain an estimate of cost of a verandah to the Gisborne school. The Inspector was instructed to .report on the of tho coal shed at tho Kaiti school. • W
The settlers at Te Puia were granted permission to erect a school on the Board site, provided the building becomes tbe property of the Board.
A request from F. Long, of Matokitoki, to be provided with conveyance to the Gisborne school at the expense of the Board, was refused. On the motion of Mr. Morgan, it was resolved: “That application bo made to the Department for a modification in the manual and technical education regulations, so that woodwork and agricultural instruction may be taken continuously 2 hours per week for twenty weeks as in the case of cooking qua dressmaking, as by so doing this Board would be able to foster elementary agriculture and dairy work in school subjects in country districts.” The motion was carried.
