Mr. H. Robinson, of tho firm of Sargood, Son and Ewon, who is wellknown as a representative crickctor and footballor, and as an oarsman, is to loavo for Auckland on Saturady to take up an appointment with Messrs Ross and Glendinning. me death occurred at To Arai on Monday evening of Mr. Thomas Dnilton, a resident of long standing and highly respected in this district. The deceased gentleman, who Iliad attained liis 55th year, was a storekeeper for many years, acted ns postmaster of tlio Mfinutmke post and telephono office, and took a great interest in school matters and local affairs generally. Ho bad been ailing for some time, but his death was unexpected. Keen sympathy is extended his wdfo and family. The funeral leaves his lato residence, To Arai, at 2 o’clock this afternoon for ! Mwkaraka cemetery. On Monday afternoon at tho schoolroom, Te Karnka, a presentation on behalf of tlio children was made to Miss F. B. Greeno, lately mistress at tho school, who has rosigned her position in view of her approaching marriage. Tho Chairman of tho school committee, Mr. Lewis, made the presentation, which consisted of a rattan afternoon tea table, a handpainted afternoon tea set and silver butter and jolly dishes to match. Mr. Lewis spoke in high terms of Miss Greene’s work, and was supported in the same strain by Mr. Sefton, headmaster, Miss Greene suitably resnonding.
