LONDON, October 7. Reuter’s Calcutta correspondent reports that Mr. Keir Hardie has published in the local papers telegrams exchanged with the Daily Mail, wherein he denies in part and qualifies wholly tho published statements. His sentiments, however, appeared in the first instance absolutely without qualification in form in cables in the newspapers as those of an Enijiire statesman and friend of India and tho Bengalee. Mr. Hardie, interviewed in Calcutta, admitted using the expressions, and modified them in certain particulars in cross-exam-ination.

EXCLUSION FROM NATAL URGED. NATAL, October 7. A letter to the Natal newspapers urges that the immigration restriction law be applied to prevent Mr. Keir Hardie visiting or that tho people should prevent him landing on the ground that his presence is calculated to rouse a dangerous native agitation. THE CALCUTTA RIOTS. (Received Oct. 8, 10.30 p.m.) CALCUTTA, Oct. 8. In connection with the recent riots 85 persons are now in goal at Calcutta, 30 being charged with looting and tho remainder with rioting. MR HARDIE ASKS FOR FAIR HEARING. (Received Oct 8, 11.33 p.m.) CALCUTTA, Oct, 8 Mr. Hardie cabled to the “Daily Mail” enumerating the loyalist sections entertaining him for the past few days, including representatives of tho British-Indian, Bengal Landholders and Indian Associations. He appeals to the public to preserve an open mind until his return to England.
