The pace was slow at the start, and Maranui, AVelcomo Trist, and Alibi alternately with Mountain King and Porn were handy until entering the straight, when Welcome Trist and Peru wero in tho van with Mountain King, who had passed Alibi. When a third of the distance was finished Mountain King and Maranui wore ahead, but the latter soon fell away again, and Mountain King, running on freely, won by half a length, a length between second and third. Maranui was sixth. Time, 2min 413 see. :

Epsom Handicap.—Melodrama 1, Mooltan 2, Antonio 3. All acceptors but Pompous started. Betting: 5 to 2 Mooltan, 4 to 1 Antonio, 16 to 1 Melodrama. The latter was first to move, but at tho bend Mooltan and, Buddha had supplanted Melodrama. Entering the straight Mooltan held a slight advantage from Buddha and Melodrama, with Antonio, lolaire, Virtue, and Beauchamp close up. There was a slashing race to tho post, Melodrama gaining the verdict by a head, Antonio a length away third. Time, lmin 383 sec. There wero many who thought Mooltan won, and the judge’s decision was a good deal commented on. Spring Stakes. —Poseidon 1, Apologue 2, Tartan 3. Betting: 5 to 2 on Poseidon. Collarit led to- tho straight, where Poseidon came through, and stalling off a challenge, won easily by a length. Time, 2min 343 sec. Kensington Handicap.—Cecil 1, Submarine 2, Epic 3.
