MATAWIIERO STOCK SALES
Tho Xew Zealand. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ittd., report on their stock sale, held at Mutawlieio yards on Thursday: Tho attendance tvas considerably above the average, and yardings of both sheep and cattlo heavy. Business was very brisk, and the sale went with a refreshing swing to tho finish.. Prices ruled considerably in advance of last few'sales, and records in several lines were touched. It .must be remembered, howovor, that it is only a levelling up continuing, and that there is still a margin between local prices and those ruling at other centres. Sheep.—Wo yarded 4477, and all sold under the* hammer under brisk competition at following range of prices:—Hoggets, small 10s 6d to 11s (sd, medium sized 15s to 15s lid, well-grown lines 17s 6d to 18s, Shropshire cross 11s lOd to 13s 6d. Our total offering of hoggets was 2800.. Wethers ■ were a small entry. A lino of 680 4-tooth stores made 21s 2d. Dry ewes in low condition 14s, in forward condition 17s 10d.. Fat ewes, light weights 17s 3d to 18s, well finished 19s~ to 20s. Ewes and lambs made 20s 3d to 22s 3d. Cattle.—Of an entry of 365 we sold 340, the passed lot was dairy heifers for which the demand continues slack. Following are the day’s prices:—Calves 19s to 28s 6d, mixed yearlings 37s to 40s, heifers 18 months £2 12s 6d to £2 15s, heifers 2 years £3 Bs, dairy heifers £5 10s.. _ Cows herd low and old 30s, fair lines £2 16s to £3 10s, dainpcows to£7 17s Gel. Steers 18 months. £2 17s (xl to £3 8s 6d, 2-year-olds £3 18s 6d to £4 os, 21 to 3 years £4 15s to £5 ss. We sold a lino of 100 nice bullocks at the latter price. Beef ox £7 17s 6d, cows light weights £4 10s, heavy £6 ss. Pigs —These were a small entry. Porkers made 27s to 395. There seems a brisk demand. : Horses.—A nice draught colt made 25 guineas. Our next sale will be held on Thursday 17tli inst., for which clients will 'kindly send entries.
LONDON MARKETS. United Press Association —Copyright LONDON, October 3.. At the wool sales, all sorts aro firm, with an upw'ard tendency: Wheat: All Australian cargo sold at 40s. GOLD EXPORT. Press Association. WELLINGTON, Oct. 4. The quantity of gold exported from New Zealand during the past nine months was 282,081 ounces, valued at £1,527,520, being a' decrease of 29,508 ounces, valued at £153,311 compared with the corresponding period of-last year. Last month the export of gold wgs 51,294 ounces, valued at £204,733, which is nearly 10,000 ounces more than ill the corresponding month of last year.
