(from our correspondent.) - ’ AA'AIPIRO BAY, Oct. 3. At. the AA'aiapu County Council .meeting yesterday all members were present. Correspondence avas considered as follows: From Air. O’Shea requesting increase in (wages.—Tho Engineer was authorised to deal with the matter. From the Treasury loravardiug advise note ro subsidy.—Received. From the Colonial Secretary informing the Council that an Ord.er-in-Council altering the western boundary of the County avas gazetted. Tho Engineer's report, detailing progress of aa'orks throughout the County, was road and considered. Councillor Sheravood proposed that tenders be called for graa'elling, and that a sum of £lO be granted toavards making a road to tlio Post Office at Awamii. —Seconded by Councillor Knox, and carried. Tlie Engineer avas authorised lo investigate the matter of the AA'aiapu ferry, also to deal with the contract of Hiniora Apanui. Councillor Cotterill’s notice of motion making a general rate of a penny halfpenny was lost. Tlio Chairman read the estimate of the amount required for proposed avorks during the ensuing year, including metalling main county roads, and gave notice of motion to propose a general rate at next meeting of nine farthings ill the £. Accounts avere passed for payment amounting io £577.
