IMPORTED STOCK.

VALUABLE SHIPMENT FROM ENGLAND. Preps Association. CHRISTCHURCH," Oct. 2. A very valuable shipment of stock arrived at Lyttelton this morning by the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Ruapehu from London. Tho shipment included six English thoroughbreds imported by Mr. Geo. G. Stead, of Christchurch, and one Shiro entire horse, two sTears5 T ears old, imported by Mr. J. Little, of Hawarden. There were also a number of stud sheep for Canterbury ‘breeders. These included ono Shropshire shearling ram, which was bred by Sir Robert Cooper, of Shenstone, Staffordshire, and which took second prize at the Royal Agricultural Show, and three Shropshire shearling owes, bred by Mr. Victor Corbett, Shropshire. These were imported for Mr. Leonard White, of Rakaia. The Ruapehu also brought three English Leicester ewes and one ram, all shearlings, imported for Dir. William Little, of Hawardcn, four English Leicester ewes and one ram for Mr. Lockliead of Ashburton, arid one English Leicester ram for Mr. J. S. Greenwood, of Teviotdale. The horses, which had passed -the Government test, were landed this morning and sent to Christchurch. . The sheep will he sent to -Quail Island to undergo’ the customary period of quarantine. All the stock were in good condition after their long trip, which was a very rough one.
