WEDDING.
CLARKE—COOPER
A pretty wedding was solemnised at Hamanatua, the residence of Mrs. W. Cooper, AVainui, on AVednesday afternoon, when Mr. AA 7 illiam Claxton Clarke, only son of Mrs. J. Friar Clarke, of Remuera, Auckland, was united in the bonds of matrimony with Miss Winifred Ruth (Freda) Cooper, third daughter of Mrs. AV Cooper. The very largo assemblage of friends evidenced the popularity of the wedding. Xlie Rev. Dawson Thomas officiated, and the ceremony took place ill tlio large library, which was festively altered for the occasion. The chief feature of the tasteful decorations was a largo wedding tell of daisies, beneath which the bridal pair stood. The bride (who was given away by her uncle, Mr. John Taylor, of Wellington) was attired in a charming creation of ivory white glace silk, daintily trimmed with Brussels lace and insertion, with capo sleeves. Tho skirt was plain, with n handsomo train, and tho trimmings were effectively set off with small diamond buckles and tulle roses. 'J he brido wore a beautiful bridal veil, with the orthodox orange blossoms. Tho bridesmaids were Miss Emily Cooper, sister of the brido, and Miss Rutli Taylor, of Wellington, cousin Both wero becomingly dressed in white embroidered muslin, kimonc, stylo, trimmed with Valenciennes lace, and wore white hats to match. Tho wedding party included: Mrs. Cooper (mother of tho bride), who wore a handsome black Bengah'ne silk, with white silk lace scarf; Miss Maud Cooper, cream silk mu ..bn, trimmed with Valenciennes lace; Mrs Langford (bride’s sister), wh'te embroidered robe. Mr. Clias. Or oper officiated as best man. Mr 35. K. Sidebottom played Men Liss rail’s “AVedding March” as tho young couple left after the ceremony. A sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of by a large party of guests, and the happy pair were overwtic-lined with good wishes, and made the recipients of numerous vrlu.vjlg presents.
Subsequently Mr. and Mrs. CJrrke left for Tatapouri. On Satuiday they proceed to Auckland mi route for Sydney. They will take a flip to the Blue Mountains (N.S.W.) n d visit Melbourne before taking up their residence in Auckland tbieo months’ hence.
