Tlie N. Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. report having held a sale of cattle and horses at Mr. C. Keenan’s yards, Ormond, on Thursday. There was a fair attendance, and an active demand for all serviceable lines of Cattle. The sales comprised 136 head at following prices:—Small calves 17s to £l, 8 to 12 months 355, yearlings £2 Is to £2 ss, beef cows £5 15s, 2-year-old steers £4, herd heifers £3 10s to £3 12s, herd cows £3. We also sold a number of horses. Hacks from £3 12s 6d to £5 ss, Two-year-old draft mare £23 10s, and other horsos at fair values. We draw special attention to our clearing sale of Mr. W. Wood’s well-selected dairy herd, to bo held at Matawhero yards on Tuesday, Ist October. This sale will be without reserve. Also on Thursday 3rd. October, the usual fortnightly sale at Matawhero will be held, for which wc have at present a large entry of both sheep and cattle. ~ ... The NIZ. Loan and Mercantile Coy., report having received the following cable from London: Wool. The sales opened with spirit Quotations about the same for crossbreds, although somewhat irregular in price. Greasy crossbred lambs: Since close of last sales prices are higher by id to Id. Merino wool: Onening catalogue was not a representative one. Merino greasy: Prices since close of last sales are higher by J<3.
