THE NAVY LEAGUE. BIG TRAINING SCHEME.

Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 23. The annual meeting of the Wellington branch of the Navy League was held this afternoon, and was well attended. Patriotic speeches were delivered by his Excellency the Governor, the Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, and the Hon. T. W. Hiislop, Mayor of Wellington. A letter was received from Mrs. Seddon, resigning the presidency of the ladies’ section. Among the officers elected were Lord JMiinket, patron for Now Zealand; Lady Pliinkot, patroness of the ladies’ section : Sir Joseph Ward, president for New Zealand; Sir Wan. Russell, vice-president for New Zealand; and the Hon. T. W. Hiislop, president of the Wellington branch. Speaking of what was being clone in connection with the training ship Amokura. the Premier saiid he believed if application was properly made New Zealand would be able to get from the Imperial authorities one of the large warships now being disposed of ns practically obsolete. If so they would be able to accommodate 600 or 700 boys.
