COMPENSATION CLAIMS.
ARBITRATION COURT DECISIONS Press Association. DUNEDIN, Sept. 23. Tho Arbitration Court gave judgment to-day in the case brought- by 'the'Public Trustee against the Bruco County Council and James Ferguson, claim for compensation in respect of the death of James Ferguson, junr., killed by a fall of earth whilst employed by his father on road construction work for the Bruce County Council. Action was taken by the Public Trustee on behalf of deceased’s mother and sisters, of whom he was tho principal supporter. The Court found that deceased had been employed as a laborer, and that his mother and four •sisters were partly dependent on liis earnings. The County Council was ordered to pay £l5O to the claimant for the benefit of the dependents referred to. It was further declared that the respondent Council was entitled to be indemnified by respondent Tames Ferguson against such liability. Respondents were ordered to nay claimants’ costs, £lO 10s. with disbursements and witnesses’ expenses. In tile case oi Daniel Cremens v. John Campbell Begg, claim for compensation for an accident sustained while bushfelling on respondent’s station at Mokorota, the result of which was the formation of hernia, the Court held that the claim for compensation Was not made within throe months after tho occurrence as required by section 12 of tho Act, ;fcid on that ground dismissed tho application
