COMMERCIAL.
MATAAVHERO STOCK SALES. The N.Z. L. and M.A. Co. report as follows on t'lieir sale at Matawhero on Thursday;—The attendance was rather above the average, and there was a keen demand for all suitable lines of sheep and steers. Sheep: Our entry comprised 567, of which we sold 449 at fair values. Ewes with about 100 per cent of lambs made 19s 6d, fat ewes 19s, hoggets (small) 13s, black face cross I3s 9d. well-grown
hoggets 16s lOd. Cattle: Of an entry of 108 we sold 91. The demand for cattle has, throughout tlie last few sales, shown a marked improvement, especially for steers of all ages. Our entry comprised herd cows at,from 36s for old and low in condition to £2 12s 6d for better linos; fat' cows, light weights £5, dairy heifers £2 10s to £3 12s 6d for backward lines, £4 to £4 15s for heifers near profit. Cilves made from 20s to 245; steers, 18-month £3 12s Cd, 2-year-old £4 15s; 3-year-old £5 7s 6d; light beef £6 7s Od. Pigs: There was a brisk demand. We sold good porkers at from 30s to 345. Horses: Sales were made at £32 for unbroken draught filly, £l4 two-year-old draught, and £l3 for a good hack. Our next sale will he held on Thursday, 3rd October, for which wo have already received
a considerable number of entries, and would request clients to give us early intimation of their entries. Wo also soil at Mr. Con. Noonan’s yards on Thursday, 26th iust, cattle, -horses, and sundries, and shall be pleased to receive further entries for this sale.
