DOMINION DAY.

The Alayor has received the following communication from the Premier: ■ Following are the arrangements for celebrating Dominion Day as far as Wellington is concerned: —ll a.m.: Declaration of Dominion Day by the Governor, followed by salute from man-o’-war and forts ; 2 p.m.: Governor, Alinisters of : Crown and party received at Newtown Park by the Alayor, Royal salute by troops, inspection by Governor, speeches by Governor and Premier, consecration of King’s colors by senior chaplain, presentation. King’s colors to troops, Royal salute to colors, troop colors, march past, all to bo finished by 3.30; 4,30: Reception iat Government House; 7.30.: Torchlight procession through streets; 8 to 10 p.m. : Reception Town Hall. This will give you an. indication of wliat will be done here, and will I hope enable you to make your arrangements for tho day. The only part in which unanimity is desired is the declaration of Dominion Day at 11 a.m. I will telegraph you in the course of a day or two a copy of the Dominion Declaration that will be read by the Governor in Wellington. This can be read by you to the peoi)le of your town at the same hour, viz., 11 a.m.” The Alayor states that tlio local celebrations will bo arranged at an early date.
