Constablo O’Hara, late of Gisborno, has arrived from Auckland to attend the Supreme Court sessions, being called as a witness in one of the cases. Air. C. R. Wilson, who has for many years been engaged in tho auctioneering business in Christchurch, arrived in Gisborne yesterday. Like many other visitors from Canterbury Air. Wilson lias come with a view to “spying out the land” in Bay districts.
Owing to tho serious illness of Air. James Mackay, of the Labor Department, his son, who is employed on one of the coast stations, was yesterday, summoned to Wellington, leaving in tho ovoning by the Moura, At the practice of the Orchestral Society last night, a presentaion was made to Air. M. L. Foster, who has acted as conductor of the Society since it was started about ten years ago. Tho presentation, which consisted of an engraved gold jewel, was made by tlie president of the society, Air James Brown, who spoke in high terms of Ah'. Foster’s work for tho society. Air J. Clirisp, secretary of tlio society, also paid a tribute to the ability and perseverance Air Foster had displayed in his work. Air Foster. in a neat speech, thanked members for their kindly appreciation of his services.
