A well-known clergyman, on one occasion, preached a sermon in a prison. During the sendee he noticed nit one of the convicts present seemed to bo very much impressed. Later i a the day he sought him out and said:— ■ • My friend, I hope you will profit A my jeniarks just now and become near mail.” “Indeed 1 wall,” was the cheerful reply. “i„ f act; j prom iso to you that I will never commit another crime, but will, in future, lead an exemplary life.” I am very glad to hear you say that,” said the clergyman, hcnrtoiily; but are you certain you wall be able to keep tho promise?” Oh, yes,” Ea i(] the convict. “I’m i m for life.”
