A Press Association telegram from Wellington states that Major Tnson, who lias been apjiointed AdjutantGeneral of the New Zealand forces, arrived from London by the Corinthie yesterday afternoon. As a mark of appreciation for his excellent services as secretary, Mr. A. M. Pickford was last evening accorded a special vote of thanks by the C »r 11" City 15 ; :d. a 1 i>;-e----sented with a lisndsomely-frained photograph of tho Band. Tlie chairman (Mr. A. G. Beere) conveyed to the recipient the good wishes of the Bind. iMr. Bickford, who is relinquishing the secretaryship through stress of business, suitably acknowledged the compliment. He will continue to act on the committee.
At St. Peter’s Church, Wellington, yesterday, Miss Lucy Mildred Eliza Fantham, fourth daughter of the late Mr. A. A. Fantham, of Hawora, was united in the bonds of matrimony with Mr. John B. Sim, eldest son of Mr. James Sim, of Dunbach, Of igo. Miss May Fantham, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and Mr. Wi.lmot Cox, of Gisborne, officiated as best man. After the' wedding breakfast the happy couple left for Masterton, en route for their future ho ne in Gisbqrne. The death is announced from Palmerston of Mr. St. Urcli, a sister- of Mrs. W. Fox, of Gisborne.
