ARBITRATION COURT.
Press Association. DUNEDIN, September 9. At tho Arbitration Court Smith and Co., tailors, were fined £2 and costs on a charge of failing to execute an order for bespoke work on tho premises, and the D.I.C. w r as similarly dealt with on a charge of the samo nature. Walker, carpenter, was fined £5 and costs for failing to indenture an apprentice. Wm. Duncan was fined £5 with costs tor employing a man at less than the minimum wage prescribed under the carpenters’ and joiners’ awards, and James Flynn was fined 10s with costs for accepting less than the minimum wage. A charge against Scott Bros., contractors for tlie new dock at I ort Chalmers, of employing men at rough carpenter’s work and paying less than the award rato of wages was dismissed. and a ehargo against the Roslvn Borough Council of employing two linen on concrete work and paving them lass than the rate prescribed by the general laborers’ aw'ard was witli-I'-v.vn. On a charge of failing to Imv wages weekly or fortnightly the Iloslyn Borough Council was ordered to pay inspector’s costs, the Court holding that the breach was only accidental.
