RESULT VERY DOUBTFUL. GREAT INTEREST IN LOCAL OPTION POLL.
United Press Association —Copyright Received September 10, 0.26 a.m. SYDNEY, September 9. The final rallies were held to-night prior to tho State elections. A heavy poll is expected to-morrow. _ Votesplitting ■ is rife in a considerable number of electorates, and makes tilt result difficult of forecast. Mr. Oarruthers estimates that of 90 members to be returned 57 at least will bt found to support tho Liberal party Possibly 67 may be returned. The Labor party as usual is well organised and confident. Several Independents consider they have good chances. Some surprises are expected. Great interest centres round the local option poll. Tho campaign was conducted with great vigor and earnestness, and the party’s expectations are high for reduction of tlic licenses concerned, and they arc hopeful of carrying no-license rigid out in a fow electorates.
