There are still. 800' unemployed on the Rand though the mines are absorbing 50 weekly. The Government withdrew its proclamation at the Waterberg tin fields fearing bloodshed, also fearing that the fields would fall into the hands of capitalists. The Government proposes to locate mineralised- areas, .placing unemployed there. Replying to General Botha, Air. Carruthers. New South Wales Premier, states that he is able to place 200 of the Rand unemployed.
