Received Sept. 1, 4.41 p.m. LONDON, August 31. Reuter reports that there is great excitement in Cherbourg over the disappearance of one of tlie microphones moored off the harbor and intended to report the presence of hostile ships in war time. It is thought that a foreign vessel, knowing its position, took the apparatus at night time.
