NAPIER, August 28. A representative hockey match, Wanganui v. Hawke’s Bay, was plav- • ed on the Recreation Ground this afternoon, in the presence of a good attendance of spectators. The game was fast, and some capital play was shown on liotli sides. Hawkes Bay, however, had always a little *tno best of tho game, and though the attentions of the Wanganui forwards were rather pressing at times, they were soon relieved by the splendid pkiy of tlie Hawke’s Bay backs, and the Haw- ' ke’s Bay forwards playing with good combination quickly transferred the attack to Wanganui’s territory. In tho first spell Haller and Scliattkev scored for Fliiwk© , s Bay and Itnssell for Wanganui. In the second spell Hallett uut on two mono goals and Scliattkev one more for tho local team, while Wanganui failed to .add to their score, tho game tlnfs ending , in a win for Hawke’s Bay by o goals * to 1. Tlie visitors .are being entertained at a dinner to-night.
