VAST AREA TO BE DRAINED, j Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 27. : Mi*. Breaynell, drainage engineer,! who has previously undertaken work for the Government has been appointed to take charge of an extensive drainage scheme on the Piako swamp in AVaikato district, where the Government has control of some fortyeight thousand acres. The Hon. Mr. AlcNab, Minister of Lands and Agriculture, believes tho Piako swamp will become the centre of the flax industry of the colony.
