BIG FIRE IN HAMILTON

Press Association. HAMILTON, August 25. About 10 o’clock last evening ia fire broke out in ;a block of buildings .in Afictonia-street, owned by H.ardley Bros., and occupied by Deacon, tobacconist, P.u.rcheM, tailor, Hardman and Curtis, pork butchers, and J. B. Scott, land agent. Before the flames were subdued all th e shops were "iitted and most of the contents destroyed or ruined by smoke and wfa.ter. The 'adjoining premises of Guttoridge and Locock, ironmongers, and Dr. Going, for a time were threatened w.i't.h destruction, but the brigade succeeded in confining .tlio fire to 'the block in which it originated. Hardlev Bros, 'had an insurance of £6OO oil the building, but the tenants wore all uninsured.
