The largo --roportion of old settlem and those who had passed through the troublous war times was a tribute to the memory of a gallant man, who rendered brave and signal service throughout tho hostilities as a transport officer. The closing scenes in the Makaraka cemetery, when the departed gentleman was laid to rest after a useful lifetime of 71 years, was most impressive.
