The N. Z. L. and M. A. reports as follows on Thursday’s sale: — The attendance was fairly good, although the yardings wore small. Sheep.—We yarded 732, of which all sold under spirited competition at undermentioned quotations. There was an unsatisfied demand for all serviceable lines of sheep, and we would recommend entries for September sales. Hoggets—Small made 9s, medium 11s 6d, well-grown 13s 2d to 13s Bd, ewes with lambs at foot 17s, fat. ewes from 16s lid to 19s. Tliere was very brisk demand for fat sheep. Wethers—A line of about 300 made 19s Bd, which was considered a good Cattle—Our entry comprised 249, of which we sold 232, competition for steers being very bris'lc, and the demand unsatisfied. Steers— year olds made from £3 17s 6d to £4 os, 2j to 3 years £4 17s 6d to £5 7s 6d, forward steers £5 15s, fat £7 ss. Heifers—lß months to 2 years old £2 5s to £2 10s. Herd cows in low condition £37s 6d to £2 15s, better lilies £3 2s 6d to £3 7s 6d. Calves 25s 'to 275, 8 to 10 months calves, well-bred £2. Beef cows, light weights, made £*t 10s to £4 los, better sorts £5 7s 6d, dairy cows from £4 to £7, according to quality. Pigs wore a small entry. Porkers made 20s. Our next sale will be held on Thursday, sth September, and we shall be glad to receive early intimation of entries, as we anticipate buyers from outside attending.
