ARAI MATAWAI CASE.

A JUST ALLOCATION. A full meeting of tho committee representing those interested, was held yesterday in the Native Land Court room when a step further towards finality was reached. An agreement was arrived at, and assented to by tho Natives concerned, that tho shares be allocated amongst the ancestors of tho original holders as follows, tho total number of names on the various lists totalling nearly 600: Mrs. Carroll’s list, 1328 shares; Ngaruo list, 1328; Te Awoawo list, 1328; I’akirihe list, 1328 ; Mokara list, 1328 ; Hinetoao list, 1328; total 7968 shares. In addition 350 shares were allotted to the disputed cases conducted by Hone Pairata; 50 were left in abeyance to be offered to Rowite Wirihana and Taare Kuramoa, who were defeated under the judge’s ruling ; and 4 shares representing undefined fractions, will be dealt with later. This makes a total allotment of 8372 shares, each share representing about half-an-acre of the block in question. The matter will formally come before his Honor, Judge Jones, for formal assent, when tlie shares allotted to each direct ancestor, have been divided among those on their lists. The Committeo will further deliberate on Monday.
