At the Grey Street' Hall to-morrow evening Mr. C. W. Winter, evangelist, will deliver an address. Brigadier Perry’s famous Biorama Company, which will appear at Gisborne ’on September 7th, is at present drawing good houses on the West Coast (South Island). The splendid Band is a feature of the combination. A pictorial treat is assured. The meetings all day to-morrow at the Salvation Army Hall will bo conducted by Adjutant Dickens. A special memorial service will be held at night in connection with tho death of the late Mrs. Gray. A hearty welcome is extended to all. Mr. Palk will preach in Wesley Church to-morrow morning. Tho Rev. C. Griffin’s subject in the evening is “Spiritual Imperialism.” The Bible Class is held in the afternoon. Mr. Griffin will hold a service at Kaihuka in the morning and at Ormond in tho afternoon. The Gisborne Harmonic Society will give an entertainment in the Theatre on Thursday evening next. Members have been in practice for some time and everything points to an excellent programme, which will include Sterndale Bennett’s fine cantata “May Queen,” the solos, duets and choruses of which are a charming collection.

The Rev. J. C. Jamieson liddressed a meeting of youths, ranging from 13 to 18 years of age, at the 1 resbytoriau Schoolroom last evening, there being a good attendance. lho subject of the address was, ‘ What Ends mo Doing in New Zealand, and Mr. Jamieson, who is au _ ox-football representative and a wrestler oi note, kept his audience greatly interested throughout tho address. On his mission to reopen tho Baptist Tabernacle, tho Rev. W. L. Salter lias arrived in Gisborne, to which ho is no stranger. It is a coincidence that 30 years ago ho came here to re-open a Motliodist Cliurch that had boon temporarily closod. The rov. gontlonian was Wesleyan minister at Gisboruo some eleven years ago, and is now stationed at Waihi. Mr. Salter will conduct services at the Tabernacle for the next six weeks, and tho Rov. Mr. Dallaston, of Napier, will preach on ono Sunday. At tho Baptist Conference in October the matter of an appointment to Cisborno will bo discussed.
It will bo seen by the advertisement that St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church presents a fairly full bill of fare for Sunday next. The Rev. W. Grant preaches in the morning on “The Strong Man,” and tho llev. J. C. Jamieson, who is conducting a series of meetings this week in St. Andrew’s Church, preaches in the evening on “Tho Secret of the Strong Man’s Strength.” Ho also addresses a public meeting for men only in Whin ray’s Hall at 3 o’clock, and Mrs. Jamieson addresses a public meeting for women only in Townley’s Hall at the same hour. The men of the town are specially invited to the morning and evening services and to the mooting for men only in the afternoon.
A social and dance under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Church was held in the Te Arai schoolroom on Thursday evening last, there being about thirty-five couples present. The rooms were gaily decorated with ferns and flowers. The Rov. Father Dignan --was present during the earlier part,.of tho evening. Songs were interasgrsed through the dances, the fofldtving contributing :—Messrs J. Parker, R. Halbert', Te Puna, and H. do La Croix. The dance music was supplied by Miss Lang. Mr T. Coppin made an efficient M.C. The supper, which was provided by the ladies, proved very acceptable to the dancers, full justice being done to the good things provided.
