CUNNING BURGLAR CAUGHT.

THE DREAD OF FINGER-PRINTS Press Association. . DUNEDIN, August 21. The sequel to the burglaries in the city reported yesterday occurred this afternoon, when a young man named Henry Francis Smith, said to be a recent arrival from Christchurch, was arrested on a charge of breaking and entering the office of Hogg and Co., timber merchants, and stealing therefrom an overcoat and a bicycle. After the robbery the detectives were handed a piece of sock which had been cut off by the leg, and which had been used as a glove to conceal any trace of finger-marks. This piece is said "to exactly fit a part of sock found in accused’s room. The stolen property has been recovered. It is understood it-liat accused lias confessed his guilt.
