“THE LIONESS OF THE PIANO.” The plan of reserved seats is filling rapidly for tho Carreno recital tomorrow. Carreno has a remarkable power as well as an exquisitely soft- touch in tender music. It is her distinctive personality, however, which has made her so famous. Says one critic: “That Carreno is magnetic no one can deny. She is a beautiful woman with an all-pervading- personality. It is a most interesting study to watch Madame Carreno while at tho piano. Her eyes are her most expressive feature, and seem to play along with her fingers, and tho triumphant leonine toss of her head after one of her thunderous chords is certainly the gesture which won her her German name, “The Lioness of the Piano.”
You often sing of England, And of Ireland, too, and Wales, And the “Braes of Bonnie Scotland,” With her stirring Border Tales;’ But don’t forget New Zealand (No other skies are bluer), And its famous household remedy— Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure.
