PERSONAL.
The death is reported from Wlairoa of Mrs. Gray, mother of Mr. Fred Gray, of Messrs. Wade and Gray, Gisborne. Mrs. Gray was one of the old pioneers of tho Salvation Army in Gisborne. She recently removed to Woiiroa for the sake of her health, having been ailing for some time. She intended to return last week, but on Thursday she took a relapse and died on Saturday afternoon. Her funeral took place on Sunday. During her lifetime Mrs. Gray was very energetic in philanthropic work, and she will be greatly missed in tho local corps. Next- Sunday a memorial service to Mrs. Gray will be conducted by Adjutant Dickens.
Mr. H. E. Gary, chief clerk of the veterinary branch of tho Stock Department, has, it is understood,- received a good appointment on the secretarial staff of tho new morning paper, Wellington. Tho Hon. Captain Tucker left for tlie South last evening to resume his Parliamentary duties.
Mr. AY. R. Beady, who takes up the management of the Poverty liav Cooperative Supply Association, arrived from tlio South on Saturday. He held a similar position in Milton as manager of the Otago Farmers’ Co operative Association.
The Hon. J. Carroll, Native M • ■ ter, was in town on Saturday on up official business. He left for the South last evening. Mr. C. B. de Lautour has been appointed a member of tho Mangapapa School Committee, vice Colonel Winter, resigned.
Staff Sergeant-Major Williams, who has been in Gisborne on military business, left for Napier last evening. Madame Carreno arrived from Napier on Saturday morning.
