The local Cadets mustered in good force at the Drill Hall last evening, under Lieut. Doyle. Staff SergtMajor Williams imparted a good deal of instruction in the new style of drill, firing exercises, etc. The corps presents a smart appearance, and goes through its drill in a manner creditable alike to officers and non-commis-sioned officers.

The meagreness of the details on the race-cards for yesterday’s race meeting was commented upon. Whilst ages and pedigrees, etc., for the hunters’ events are not very important, at least the colors worn by the riders should be set out as a guide for the spectators. The committee might accept the hint for future meetings.

Mr. Ross, assistant stock inspector, and Air. Williamson have returned to town after a trip up the Ruakituri Valley.
