In order that this important fact may be realised, the following description of the work performed by those vital organs is; given. Tile Kidneys filter and extract from the blood about three pints of urine every this quantity of urine are dissolved about an ounce of urea, ten to ■ twelve grains in weight of uric acid, together with other animal and mineral matter varying from a third of an ounce to nearly an ounce. When the kidneys are in health, all this solid matter is in solution and is invisible.'
