I An inquest was held on Saturday I afternoon on tlio body of Charles KiitI ion, otherwise Frederick AVliitobead, I which was found in the stream at I Wndestown. Fanny Whitehead (for- [ morly Rosa) said she married deceased at. Capetown. Ho was a brickI lavor. Thoy came to. N.Z. a year aro. Latterly deceased had continuous employment at £3 10s a week, and ho had £4O in tho Savings Bank. Deceased was 56 y'ears of age. He was a sober man. During tho past Fortnight lie land been depressed. He had not told her what was on his mind, though she had often asked him. Police-Sergeant Phair stated that on August Ist, the day on which the previous witness last saw deceased, Kitson called at tho police sta-
tion and made the following voluntary statement: —“I am a bricklayer, and reside at No. 1 Cambridge-ter-race. On 19th July, 1906, I married Fanny Ross at Trinity Chapel, Capetown, being then a married man, and my former wife being then alive. I was married in tho name of Frederick Whitohend, but my name is Charles Kitson. Here in Wellington X made certain statements against Fanny Ross, which are absolutely untrue.” The Coroner told Airs. Boss she was now in the position of a free woman, not the widow of Kitson. A verdict j was returned of suicide whilo temporarily insane.
