FLAX GRADING.

THE NEW REGULATIONS. (Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, August 8. The new regulations for flax grading and export provide that the following stores are appointed the only stores in New Zealand for the examination and grading therein of New Zealand hemp. At Auckland, The New Zealand Shipping Co., Ltd. and the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co., Ltd. ; at Napier, the New Zealand •shipping Co., Ltd. and the Shaw, fiavill and Albion Co., Ltd. ; at Wellington, the Wellington Harbor Board; at Picton, "the N. Z. L. and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.; at Blenheiin, tlie New Zealand Shipping Co., Ltd. and the Shaw, Savill and Albion Go., Ltd. • at. Lyttelton, the New Zealand Shipping Co., Gtd. and the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co., Ltd • ‘ !t Port Chalmers, John Mill anil Co. ind the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co.. Ltd ; at Bluff, the New Zealand Sliippmg Co., Ltd. and the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co., Ltd. There are twenty-three regulations in grading hemp. The following will be the maximum points for allotment: T. °r stripping 25 points, for scutching 25 points, for color 25 points, lor strength 25 points; total 100 points.

The following will he standards on which the grades will be determined: —A grade (“superior”) 90 to 100 points both inclusive, B grade (“fine”) 30 to 89 points both inclusive, C grade i “good fair”) 70 to 79 points both inclusive, D grade (“fair”) 60 to 69 Point both inclusive, E glade (“common”) 50 to 59 points inclusive. F grade (“rejected”) under 50 points provided however that any grades may absolutely condemn any hemp which in his opinion lias been so badly treated as to make it useless for the purpose of manufacture or for •my other trade purpose. The charge for grading hemp is to He Id per hundred weight or part of a hundred weight calculated on the actual weight.
